We are delighted that you are considering Oranga School for your child.

Choosing the right school is an important decision. If you would like to visit Oranga School and meet with our Principal, our office team can arrange a personalised tour at a time that works for you. Please email admin@oranga.school.nz

When enrolling your child, please bring the following original documents for us to sight:

  • Your child’s Birth Certificate or Passport (we will take a copy for our records).

  • If you live within our school zone, proof of address, such as:

    • a rates notice or tenancy agreement, and

    • a recent utility bill.

To help children feel confident and settled before their first day, we invite all enrolled preschool children to arrange a visit to their classroom. Visits are organised at the school office and are on Wednesday mornings during the two weeks before they start school. These visits provide an opportunity to meet their teacher, become familiar with the classroom, make new friends, and begin their transition to school in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

The Ministry of Education School Zone website provides information about school zones for New Zealand schools. You can search by your home address and see if you in zone for Oranga School.

Click here to view a list of all the streets included in our school zone. If you are currently residing within our School home zone, your child is automatically eligible to be enrolled at Oranga School. Enrolments for children who live in our zone are accepted throughout the year.

Out of Zone Enrolments
Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. 

For 2027, the Oranga School Board of Trustees has determined that 20 places are available for students who live out of zone.  Applications for the 2027 ballot are now open.  The Out of Zone ballot will be held in October 2026 for any child that would like to attend Oranga School but does not live in zone.  Applications close on 14 October 2026.  The ballot will be drawn on 21 October 2026.  All applicants will be advised of the results by email.  If you have any questions about Out of Zone enrolments or would like to make an application, please contact the Office Manager, Rita Leofo r.leofo@oranga.school.nz
